AB Group, global sponsor of the 2025 Renewable Gas Show, has signed a framework agreement with Elevion Group for the development and maintenance of five plants upgrade from biogas to biomethane in the Italian regions of Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy.
Thanks to the agreement, facilities with capacities between 350 and 900 Smc/h will be built, all equipped with the technology BIOCH4NGE® AB, based on high-selectivity membranes to purify biomethane. In addition, each plant will incorporate complete systems for injection into the national gas grid, as well as a maintenance plan. full service that guarantees maximum availability and performance.
The estimated environmental impact is significant: savings of 50.000 tons of CO₂ equivalent per year, thanks to the use of local agricultural and livestock by-products, in a circular economy model and integrated value chain.
The president of AB, Angelo Baronchelli, stresses that the initiative contributes to the objectives of Italy's National Energy and Climate Plan in the biomethane sector. In addition to its collaboration with Elevion Group (a European provider of comprehensive solutions for decarbonization and energy efficiency), AB is developing projects in other areas of the biomethane value chain. A recent example is the San Nazzaro Sesia plant (Novara), where the technology BIOCH4NGE® It is used to produce high-quality biomethane from organic waste and sludge.
Part of this production is destined for sustainable mobility, supplying LNG and CNG trucks of Iveco, an international manufacturer of commercial vehicles based in Italy with a production presence in Spain. This type of initiative reinforces the role of biomethane as a renewable fuel in heavy-duty transport.
