AGROCAT has proven that covering the slurry tank to take advantage of the biogas, reduces emissions and obtains a digestate that is a better fertilizer than slurry.

In 2018, AGROCAT, a livestock cooperative located in central Catalonia, wanted to test the biogas production potential of pig manure from sow farms. Using an inflatable tank with a capacity of 300 m3, he observed that this was like a biogas digester. Since the slurry was inside under conditions of high temperature and lack of oxygen, it was found that the sow's pork slurry had more biogas generation potential than expected.

On the farm a newly built slurry tank had to be built, it was used to build the new tank with a flexible lid, since to comply with the BAT'S the tank had to be covered, and having to do so, it was proposed to cover it with Flexible lid to reduce emissions into the atmosphere. In addition to taking advantage of the biogas production potential of slurry, a boiler was operated and a digestate was obtained that fertilizes better than slurry.

AGROCAT is presented for the innovation award at the first #RenewableGas Show with the intention of exposing the behavior and production potential of this simple mini biogas plant. It can be installed in small and medium-sized farms since it has been shown that biogas does not need to be a scale potential but can be used in the place where it is produced, saving energy on the farm, reducing emissions and obtaining a better fertilizer product. with the digestate.
