Biolvegas begins the injection of biomethane into the gas network

The Nortegas Group, through its subsidiary Nortegas Green Energy Solutions, together with Biovec, Bioenergética de Navarra, the rest of the founding partners of Biolvegas and the company Oleofat, has carried out the first network injection of biomethane from the biogas plant located in the municipality of Ólvega (Soria).

The plant has begun the continuous injection of biomethane into the gas distribution network, after a upgrading process that purifies the biogas generated by treated agricultural and agro-food waste, thus obtaining a 100% renewable solution that is equivalent and interchangeable with natural gas of fossil origin, using current gas infrastructure. They have had technology from the Italian firm AB Energy and from the Austrian Biogest among others, participants in the Renewable Gas Show held at the Valladolid Fair.

The project has the capacity to produce 30 GWh per year of biomethane today, a capacity that is currently being expanded, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of natural gas of 8.100 homes, and you will get a reduction of 30.000 tons of CO2 annually.

This is the sixth biomethane plant built that currently injects biomethane into the gas distribution network in Spain. About 15.000 tons of pig, cattle and poultry manure and about 35.000 tons of agri-food waste, industrial waste and residual oils will be valued annually.
