Calpech nanoparticles

CALPECH designs a range of revolutionary additives, based on its nanoparticles, which are transforming the efficiency of biogas and biomethane plants

Calpech is a spin-off company born from the scientific advances made at the University of Alicante, specifically within the framework of a doctoral thesis. Its cutting-edge technology focuses on the production of carbon-encapsulated iron nanoparticles, a process that uses waste from the agricultural industry as raw material. Thanks to an innovative manufacturing process, Calpech has managed to scale up the production of these nanoparticles to an industrial level, allowing them to be marketed at an extraordinarily low cost.

But the spin-off's innovation doesn't stop here. The company has designed a range of revolutionary additives, based on its nanoparticles, which are transforming the efficiency of biogas and biomethane plants. These additives provide a number of key benefits:

– Elimination of hydrogen sulfide: improves biogas quality and reduces corrosion in equipment.

– Increase in biogas production by up to 40%: boosts plant efficiency and performance.

– Supply of essential nutrients: improves the nutritional balance of the anaerobic digestion process.

– Protection of the digester against high organic loads: ensures the stability and durability of the system.

– Enrichment of digestate for use as fertilizer: contributes to the circular economy by improving the quality of the final product.

– Ecological and naturally-derived product: reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.

Calpech is not only known for the quality of its products, but also for offering a wide range of customized services. These include control and optimization of the digester diet using mathematical models, analysis of raw material, digestate and biogas, measurement of biomethanization potential (BMP), diagnosis of digester operation and specialized technical advice. The company has two semi-industrial-sized digesters of 1,2 m³, six pilot digesters and more than 400 laboratory digesters for BMP tests. In addition, it has the capacity to perform various analytical determinations, such as total solids, volatile solids, chemical oxygen demand, ammoniacal nitrogen, humidity and ash, among others.

We cannot forget Calpech's firm commitment to sustainability and the circular economy. The company not only takes advantage of industrial waste to create value, but also contributes to a cleaner and more efficient future, promoting practices that reduce environmental impact and improve the profitability of the energy sector. The team at CALPECH will be on October 1 and 2 at stand #218B of the 4th Renewable Gas Hall
