Central Lechera Asturiana will invest 4 million in Biogastur to obtain biomethane

Since Central Lechera Asturiana assumed 100% of the management of the Naviega slurry plant, Biogastur, the facilities have not stopped getting ready. Now they are in the process of receiving the raw materials, slurry and ecosostrates. It is a gradual process, with which they aim to reach maximum performance. He explained from Armental the general director of Central Lechera Asturiana, Francisco Sanmartín.

The idea is that, at the end of this year 2022, the facilities, which already employ around thirteen people, will be at maximum performance, and the company can tackle the second phase. «The model of this plant is to obtain methane to use it in engines and obtain electrical energy, but the future model involves making an investment to obtain biomethane» explained Sanmartín. An "important investment" estimated at around four million euros, which the Headquarters will carry out in Navia, "aware that the future demands it."

Sanmartín assures that the facilities "fit perfectly with all the provisions of the European Union for slurry management, obtaining clean energy and organic fertilizers."

«In Asturias, the management of excess slurry in the dairy sector generates problems and a plant with this level of scale and this ambition is the best aligned model to be able to respond, within a circular economy and energy production that is truly competitive. », assured the Minister of Rural Environment and Territorial Cohesion, Alejandro Calvo, during the visit to Biogastur.
