CycleØ, a European developer, owner, and operator of biogas plants, has confirmed that its application for a gas transporter license in Spain has been approved. This new gas transporter status further strengthens the company's investment in Spain, allowing it to market and supply gas directly in the Spanish market . This confirmation comes on the heels of three operational biomethane plants and the first private gas injection point in the Spanish gas network, and follows a recent commitment to build, own, and operate up to 30 biogas plants in Spain.
The successful application supports a significant commitment to biogas and biomethane production in Spain and serves as further evidence of the company's long-term ambition to establish itself in Spain.
CycleØ, which is now eligible to act as a transporter, can market and supply biomethane generated at its three operating plants in Spain, located in Lleida and Vilanant. Once the 18 new plants currently under construction or in the advanced planning stage come online, the company will also be able to market or supply gas from these plants to contribute to the decarbonization of the Spanish gas grid.
This latest news follows the announcement of plans to develop 30 biogas plants in Spain, with investments totaling €200 million. The combined production of the plants will be approximately 800 GWh per year, enough to meet the gas needs of approximately 123.000 Spanish households.
Granted under the name of CycleØ Comercializadora SL, a subsidiary of CycleØ Group Limited, the license is a wholesale marketing license.
Jordi Berengué, Managing Director of Operations in Spain, stated: “The approval of this license allows us to further consolidate our leading position in Spain and Europe in the renewable natural gas sector . As a gas transporter, our long-term strategic plans are further supported as we contribute to the development of the renewable natural gas market in Spain.”
