The 18th International Bioenergy Congress, to be held on October 1 and 2, 2025, at the Valladolid Fairgrounds, now has its provisional program available and is open for registration for professionals interested in attending. Under the motto “Biomethane and other renewable gases: The path to a sustainable and competitive economy”The conference will bring together experts from across the value chain to share more than 50 case studies, innovative technologies, and business models related to biomethane and other renewable gases.
Over two days, professionals from the energy, agro-industrial, and technology sectors will present concrete solutions to consolidate the role of biomethane in the energy transition, industrial decarbonization, and the efficient management of organic waste. The program progress and access to the accreditation form are now available on the website. www.congresobioenergia.org/programa-1.
The opening session will offer an updated overview of the European biomethane market, leading to 10 thematic sections and five roundtable discussions over the two days. The program will cover topics such as synergies between biomethane and green hydrogen; advances in upgrading technologies; promoting biomethane self-consumption in rural areas; and the best strategies and tools for managing and recovering digestates, including traceability platforms, biofertilizers, and new products.
The program will also include a section dedicated to international experiences, with biogas and biomethane development models in other European and Latin American countries. For the first time, a section focused on green hydrogen will be included, with examples of production from organic waste, electrocatalytic technologies, and ongoing projects combining gasification and dark fermentation.
The president of AVEBIOM, Javier Diaz, highlights that "The program reflects the maturity the sector is reaching: we go far beyond theoretical debates and focus on sharing real solutions and replicable business models, both in large plants and in more distributed initiatives linked to the territory."
For his part, the president of AEBIG, Luis Puchades, ensures that "This congress reinforces the sector's commitment to the sustainable development of biomethane as a key element for a decarbonized, efficient, and regionally connected economy. At AEBIG, we continue to promote cooperation between companies, the primary sector, government agencies, and citizens, which is enabling ideas to be transformed into concrete projects with a real impact."
