In 2024 the fourth edition of the First Renewable Gas Fair and 17th International Bioenergy Congress, which continue to support the good moment of the renewable gases Sector in the Iberian Peninsula, contributing to its consolidation as an undisputed component in the transition towards more sustainable energy sources, as well as in the efficient management of by-products and organic waste.
The Spanish Biomass Association (AVEBIOM), as organizing entity, and the Spanish Biogas Association (AEBIG), as a technical partner, once again invites all companies and professionals interested in this dynamic market to participate in the event that will be held on October 1 and 2, 2024, at Feria de Valladolid.
2023: the real beginning of the biomethane sector in our country
In 2023, the salon broke all records: was visited by 3.594 professionals from all over the world, 44% more than the previous year; 214 exhibiting companies from 17 countries participated, doubling the number of the second edition; and the congress had 792 attendees, with sessions that completely filled the capacity.
Javier Diaz, president of AVEBIOM, highlights that “we are going to make it easier for all people interested in promoting the use of biomethane and other renewable gases in Spain, Portugal and America to attend the next meeting of the Hall and Congress, to share knowledge and contribute to the growth of a sustainable and solid Sector.”
Eleven biomethane plants currently operate in Spain, producing 455 GWh/year, in addition to some 250 biogas plants that provide 8.079 GWh/year, as well as nine solid biomass gasification plants. The good news is that the biogas and biomethane industry continues to gain weight in the energy mix, which is demonstrated by conclusive data; In 2023 around 200 biomethane production projects are in different stages of development.
Francisco Repullo, president of AEBIG, considers that “it is time to collaborate together to achieve well-armed projects supported by knowledge. Biomethane is not a bubble, but a necessary activity to combat climate change and increase our energy sovereignty.”
