The biogas/biomethane sector is experiencing a moment of extraordinary dynamism.
The opportunities for biogas/biomethane are clear, even in a country like Spain that lacks support from the Public Administration; The sector has great will and has mature technology that is already a reality, but it faces a great challenge for its development.

Even so, in the last 12 months, 4 new biomethane plants with grid injection have been launched:

JUN-2021. ELENA biomethane plant

  • Location: Parc de L'Alba de Cerdanyola – Barcelona
  • Promoter: NATURGY
  • Energy: injection of 12 GWh/year into the Nedgia network 
  • Origin: municipal waste

SEP-2021. UNUE biomethane plant

  • Location: PI Villalonquéjar – Burgos
  • Promoter: UNUE (ENAGAS + SUMA CAPITAL)
  • Energy: injection of 20 GWh/year into the Nedgia network 
  • Origin: agroindustrial waste
