Javier Díaz, president of AVEBIOM

Javier Díaz (AVEBIOM) demands legislative support and agility in the processing of projects to promote the development of biogas in Spain

The president of the Spanish Biomass Association (Avebiom) has demanded from the administrations “legislative support” and facilities in the processing of files to take advantage of the great potential of biogas and biomethane production in Spain.

In his speech at the sectoral challenges table at the 16th International Bioenergy Congress, held in Valladolid, Díaz also emphasized the importance of working with the agricultural sector to achieve agreements related to digestate. This material must find applications in agriculture, avoiding market launch problems, such as those experienced with compost in the past.

In relation to the current situation of fertilizer prices, Javier Díaz suggested that it is a good time to approach the agricultural sector and present attractive solutions, taking advantage of the competitiveness that could have existed if more digestate had been available in recent years.

Javier Díaz's presentation at the International Bioenergy Congress focused on the importance of the growth of the sector, the prominent position of Spain in the production of biogas and biomethane in Europe, the need for legislative support and the importance of collaborating with the agricultural sector to guarantee an adequate outlet for the products generated in bioenergy.
