The Secretary of State for Energy announces the upcoming implementation of the system of guarantees of origin for renewable gases

National, regional and local authorities, as well as representatives of entities and organizations linked to the renewable gases sector, met this morning at the Valladolid Fairgrounds on the occasion of the inauguration of the second edition of the Renewable Gas Show and the 15th International Bioenergy Congress.

The event was chaired by the Mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Energy, Sara Aagsen; the General Director of Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability, José Manuel Jiménez; the Subdelegate of the Government in Valladolid, Alicia Villar; the Councilor for Innovation of the Valladolid City Council, Charo Chávez; Javier Díaz, president of Avebiom, and Francisco Repullo, president of AEBIG, organizing entities of the fair.

Óscar Puente has highlighted the timeliness of the event in the current energy panorama, which is creating so many difficulties for companies, families and the economy in general. The Valladolid city council actively collaborates with the organization of the Renewable Gas Show and the International Bioenergy Congress because "it is time to support the technological change that the production and use of renewable gas entails", both to face these difficulties and for its role in the fight against climate change, the mayor has expressed.

Sara Aagsen, for her part, has announced that within the contingency plan that the government is developing in response to the current energy situation, the acceleration of the implementation of the system of guarantees of origin for renewable gases that was approved in May stands out. 2022. In addition, he has assured that the review of the PNIEC will extend the 10 TWh objectives currently established for renewable gas to 2030, given the great potential of our country.

José Manuel Jiménez, finally, predicted that the biogas sector will be tremendously booming in Castilla y León in the coming years.

In this second edition, the RENEWABLE GAS SHOW has the participation of 111 exhibiting companies from 12 countries that are showing the latest developments in this booming sector to more than 2.000 professional visitors. On the other hand, the fifteenth edition of the International Bioenergy Congress brings together 500 congressmen interested in the promotion of renewable gas technologies and the market.

The organizers, the Spanish Biomass Association (AVEBIOM) and the Spanish Biogas Association (AEBIG), want to contribute to stimulating the activity of the sector in Spain to become the fourth country in the European ranking in the production of renewable gas from byproducts and waste of organic origin.
