The purification of biogas is a key stage prior to its use in cogeneration engines, boilers or network injection. Among the contaminants that cause the most problems, not only to the final equipment but also to the process line itself, is hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
Promindsa, a company dedicated to the extraction and processing of mineral products, has developed a totally natural product capable of eliminating hydrogen sulfide as soon as it is generated in biogas reactors. To achieve this, we have relied on bibliographic documentation, a deep analysis of the mining site and a continuous study of the properties of the material. The resulting product has had a great impact on both the national and international markets, becoming a real alternative to the desulfurizing agents typically used.
Micronox Biox ON16 perfectly aligns with the values of ecology and circular economy: only mechanical processes and 100% renewable energy are involved in its manufacturing. Micronox Biox ON16 is also a commitment to safety. Its format in closed bags, its neutral pH and its zero toxicity reduce the risk to workers by avoiding, for example, the handling of corrosive substances. This product is composed of a mixture of finely micronized iron oxides and oxy-hydroxides that is added directly to the anaerobic reactor or one of its previous phases. Its high surface area and high affinity for hydrogen sulfide allow the H2S concentration to be reduced from 2.000-10.000 ppm to 100-200 ppm.
The resulting product after the reaction is a mixture of FeS and S0 (elemental), completely inert, which becomes part of the digestate. This digestate can in turn be applied as fertilizer in agriculture. In this way, a product life cycle that begins on land and ends on land is closed, providing along the way solutions to important environmental problems such as the emission of SO2 into the atmosphere or the intensive use of fertilizers of inorganic origin.
The versatility of the product has allowed us to reach clients with very different consumptions, substrates and reactors. Currently our main clients are wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), urban waste treatment plants and agricultural and livestock waste recovery plants.
