BioVO project for the generation of biomethane

The Vallès Oriental and Besòs Tordera consortia join forces to generate biomethane. A biogas enrichment or Upgrading plant will be built with a budget of 2.775.000 euros in an area shared between the two consortia, in the Raiguer industrial estate, in Granollers.

The Vallès Oriental Waste Management Consortium and the Besòs Tordera Consortium have presented the BioVO joint project, which aims to biomethane generation, through the use of part of the biogas that is generated in the treatment processes at the Plant Anaerobic Digestion and Composting of the Vallès Oriental Waste Management Consortium and in the Industrial water treatment (WWTP) Granollers of the Besòs Tordera Consortium. The presidents of both entities highlighted the joint work and the good work of the technical team that has made this project a reality.

«There is no other project of these characteristics that is joint in Catalonia or in Spain»

To make this biomethane generation process possible, a gas enrichment plant will be built. biogas or Upgrading in a shared area between the two consortia, in the Raiguer industrial estate, in Granollers. This facility will mainly consist of a biogas cleaning and purification plant, Using membrane technology, a gasholder with a capacity of 1.250 m 3 and a biomethane injection module into the natural gas network”

The project, with a expected cost of 2.775.000 euros, has received a subsidy of 1.012.944,76 euros from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) through the European Regional Development Funds of the European Union (ERDF) as it is an initiative that favors a low-carbon economy and, therefore, sustainable growth. The rest will be the responsibility of both consortia.
