Redexis gets its first biomethane production plant

redexis, a comprehensive energy infrastructure company, has formalized the purchase of 70% of the Energy Green Almazán Society, until now the owner of a treatment facility for animal by-products not intended for human consumption that produces and markets flour and fats. In this way, Redexis takes majority ownership of its first biomethane production plant in operation in Almazán (Soria).

The total investment is 7,7 million euros, of which includes the acquisition of 70% of the property, as well as the renovation and repowering of the plant, with the aim of increasing the production capacity of flours and fats and starting to produce biomethane to be injected into the municipality's current gas network.

The objective is to generate around 20 GWh/year of biomethane, which could supply approximately 3.170 homes. In addition, the company contemplates the construction of a composting plant for the production of biofertilizers.

Energy Green Almazan It is a key asset for Redexis, since it allows it to continue with its strategy focused on the development of biomethane projects, placing itself ahead in the field of production of this renewable gas. This biomethane can be injected, without modifications, into the current gas network that Redexis has in the community.

With this new plant, Redexis takes another step in its commitment to the energy transition, local energy production and the circular economy, since it will provide clean gas to the energy system and contribute to the sustainable management of agricultural waste.

In Castilla y León, the perfect conditions exist for the development of biomethane, because there is a very important agricultural and livestock activity, and the union of these two activities together with the need to treat the substrates that are generated allows companies like Redexis to do this. important proposal for the development of energy production plants.
