Versatility of inputs, optimized mixtures and transfers for biomethanation with WANGEN BIO-MIX and KL pumps

Increasingly, biogas units must adapt to a wide variety of inputs, which implies greater requirements for the preparation, mixing and introduction of substrates into the digestion tanks. This is the main reason why the leading German firm WANGEN has just optimized the BIO-MIX and KL pumps. Now more robust, flexible and suitable for transferring and mixing the liquid phase with inputs with high dry matter content.

The BIO-MIX

The BIO-MIX pump has been optimized to allow the introduction of manure, biowaste, industrial waste and intermediate crops, and better respond to the problem of transfer and mixing the liquid phase with the solid phase. And it has two versions that accept a wide variety of inputs:

  • One with a round hopper (HDS) to transport sticky materials such as manure or slurry.
  • Another with a rectangular hopper (HD) for the transport of drier materials, which contain unwanted materials such as stones or other foreign bodies.

The KL-S

The KL-S model is a robust and efficient transfer pump capable of reaching flow rates greater than 200 m³ per hour and pressures greater than 20 bar. Transfers low to high viscosity fluids, abrasive or sticky fluids such as slurry, solid manure, silage, corn, grass, etc. Different sizes and geometries of stators (fixed part) and rotors (rotating part) are available for optimal adaptation to the needs of each biogas unit.

High performance at low cost

The transmission concept based on a landing box and articulated gimbal protected by sleeves is unique and makes it practically indestructible. Between the criteria of robustness and flexibility imposed by the manufacturer, the sizing philosophy of the pumps that consists of operating them at low speed and the technical options mentioned above lead to important operational advantages: lower energy consumption and less wear on parts. Among the most important performance parameters of the pumps, which allow the reduction of operating costs, we find versatility, durability and safety of uninterrupted operation.

Wangen Pumps in Spain

WANGEN Pumps is the leader in methanization pumps in Germany. In fact, its progressive cavity pumps are present in 90% of the 10.000 German biogas units. In Spain, it has chosen to cooperate with LEWA Spain which is a firm known for 20 years in the field of industrial pumps and also as a supplier of odor pumps in the field of biogas.

In addition, it will be present at the First Renewable Gas Fair, the event organized by AEBIG and AVEBIOM from October 3 to 4, 2023 at the Valladolid fair.
