Efficient biogas production? Increasing gas generation performance and plant profitability is possible by providing an optimized feed of solid matter to the digester. For this it is important to have highly reliable equipment.
Vogelsang Premix mixes and grinds organic solids (e.g. large volumes of crop residues or food waste of various consistencies) and liquids to form a homogeneous suspension optimized to facilitate bacterial digestion.
How does PreMix work? The solids are introduced through an endless screw, while the liquids are pumped with a feed pump to be mixed in the PreMix. The equipment then separates the heavy materials to prevent stones or metal pieces from damaging the equipment and entering the digester. Next, the most voluminous solid materials are crushed and the fibrous materials are macerated to the desired particle size, creating a homogeneous suspension. Subsequently, it proceeds to pump the mixture to the digester.
PreMix is made up of two elements: a macerator and a pump. The RotaCut RCX macerator now also offers the new version of the ACCplus blade adjustment. This innovative solution not only automatically adjusts the blades, but also allows the contact pressure to be adapted to the substrate in question from the control room. The cutting performance of the RotaCut RCX can also be adjusted dynamically, not only reducing the energy consumption of the RotaCut, but also minimizing wear on the cutting tools. As a result, the useful life is increased by up to 100% and maintenance intervals are spaced out.
The other element that makes up the PreMix is the helical screw pump. Now it is possible to choose between the traditional model or the new HiCone. HiCone has low maintenance and low wear. The conical shape of the rotor and stator allows precise adjustment and no replacement parts are necessary, which multiplies the life of the pump. If a gap occurs between the rotor and stator due to wear, it can be compensated during operation. The rotor is adjusted axially and the helical screw pump is again like new, ensuring constant conveying capacity with high performance. Instead of having to replace parts, which is expensive and time-consuming, the HiCone can be retrofitted easily and quickly, increasing the life of the device several times. In this way, downtime is considerably reduced.
The equipment requires low energy consumption. In addition, thanks to its compact design, it requires few square meters. This makes it easy to install and integrate into new systems or upgrade existing biogas plants without having to modify the space.
Likewise, the new generation of PreMix IC and ICC solids feeders help to further increase biogas production. PreMix IC (Intelligent Control) is a complete solution for OEMs, where the plant manufacturer installs the machine, integrates it into the higher level control system and installs the safety elements. PreMix ICC (Intelligent Control Comfort), on the other hand, represents the ready-to-use plug-and-play system solution for end customers. Both models offer even higher performance, longer life, reduced running costs and lower energy consumption than previous models.
For its part, PreMix ICC integrates a 10-inch touch screen to facilitate its use. The machine automatically regulates itself within the optimal range to ensure efficient feeding of solid matter. All key parameters and settings can be configured directly from the control room or via remote control. By monitoring the condition of the pump and macerator, users also have a constant overview of the condition of wearing parts, allowing them to plan replacements well in advance.
