The second edition of the Renewable Gas Show will show the latest in technology, knowledge and resources to accelerate the successful implementation of biogas, biomethane and other renewable gases projects in Spain.
The sector as a whole is determined to ensure that Spain becomes the fourth country in the European ranking in the production of renewable gas from byproducts and waste of organic origin.
The European Union is allocating funds to generate enough biomethane to supply at least 10% of projected consumption across Europe in 2030.
The II Renewable Gas Show triples the magnitude of last year's event and will have 111 exhibiting companies from 12 countries that will show their latest technology and innovations to produce biogas, biomethane and other renewable gases.
Less than a week after opening its doors, 2.000 professional visitors from all over Spain and 12 other countries have already been accredited, in addition to 500 congressmen, who will attend the conferences of the 15th International Bioenergy Congress where the latest information and news are presented. related to the production, technology and market situation of biogas and biomethane in Spain and Europe.
This double event positions Valladolid at the center of the national debate on the strategic renewable gases sector and has the collaboration of the Regional Government of Castilla y León through Somacyl; of the Valladolid City Council through its Innovation and Economic Development Agency and the Valladolid Fair itself.
The organizers, the Spanish Biomass Association (AVEBIOM) and the Spanish Biogas Association (AEBIG), thus want to contribute to stimulating the activity of the sector along the path of leading countries such as Germany, with thousands of plants already in operation; France, where three biomethane plants are commissioned every week; or Denmark, which hopes to supply 100% of its gas consumption with biomethane in 2030.
The Renewable Gas Fair hopes to lead commercial activity and collaborate in promoting the installation of hundreds of biomethane plants in Spain in the coming years.
An energy alternative to natural gas increasingly closer
The current energy panorama, with exorbitant prices of imported gas that force industries to stop, raise the cost of electricity and all products, slowing down the economy in general, requires urgent measures to reduce the external dependence on gas of both public administrations as from the private sector.
In Spain, 3 new biomethane plants have started operating in the last year (UNUE-Biogasnalia plant, promoted by ENAGAS and SUMA CAPITAL in Villalonquejar, Burgos; plant at the Torre Santamaría farm, promoted by AXPO in Balaguer, Lleida; and NATURGY at the Elena landfill in Cerdanyola del Vallés, Barcelona), bringing the total to five facilities producing and injecting renewable gas into the grid in the country. In the coming years the number of projects will multiply, meeting, if not exceeding, the roadmap approved in March by the government.
On the other hand, the production of biomethane perfectly complies with the postulates of the circular economy and contributes to achieving the objectives of the European Union to fight against the acceleration of climate change.
